Brilliant at “Technopoles Study Visits: discover the research laboratories in Romagna!”
On 25 March 2025, during the event “From the Coffee Cup to Space: Ceramics in Innovation” within the programme “Technopoles Study Visits: Discover the research laboratories in Romagna”, undergraduate and postgraduate students from Italy and different parts of the world visited the Ravenna Technopole and ENEA research laboratories in Faenza.
During the meeting at ENEA’s Ceramics and Composites Laboratory for the Manufacturing Industry, the topic of research into innovative composite materials was discussed in depth. In particular, the activities of the BRILLIANT project were described, in synergy with the other five composite materials projects (Ecosister, Carbo-Plus, Tantum Ergo, Fenice, Campres) currently active at ENEA in Faenza.
This project will use natural fibres, which have so far only been used in niche markets (e.g. non-structural components in car interiors). Thanks to the combination of technologies developed by ENEA (anti-osmotic barriers) and those developed by Nanoprom (hydrophobic treatments, which are also environmentally friendly), it is possible to extend applications to the construction sector and even to the marine and renewable energy sectors.
